At Orbis Risk Partners, our story is rooted in a clear decision – to do things differently.

In an industry increasingly defined by scale and consolidation, we chose specialisation, proximity, and partnership. Our aim from the very beginning was to walk the same path as our clients, acting not simply as an advisor, but as a true partner: a philosophy that is reflected in the word Partners at the heart of our name.

The idea for our company was shaped during a high-stakes transaction on a Christmas evening, when it became clear that clients in a fast-paced, global industry needed more than standard solutions. They needed 24/7 availability, sharp judgement, and top-tier service, delivered by people who understand the realities of shipping, trade, and logistics.

Founders Frederik De Preter and Glenn Jorissen worked closely together as colleagues within a shipping advisory firm, building deep technical knowledge, shared experience, and most importantly – a common vision of how clients should be served. United by the same core values, they later completed a management buy-out and established Orbis Risk Partners, with offices in Antwerp and Dubai.

Our name, Orbis, is derived from the Latin word for “compass” – a symbol of navigation, direction, and trust. That is exactly what we aim to provide: clear guidance through complexity, reliability under pressure, and solutions that evolve with change.

From day one, our mission has been simple: to make marine and specialty risk management more transparent, efficient, personal, and dependable – while staying agile in an industry that never stands still.
